Rowlands aims for hat-trick

March 10th 2016

Ffestiniog’s Owain Rowlands heads North this weekend to tackle to Malcolm Wilson Stages, round two of the DMack Fiesta ST Trophy that he currently leads.

Having only competed on two previous rallies, and taking commanding class wins on both, Rowlands heads to the forests of the Lake District with Bala-based navigator Emyr Hall alongside. “Emyr has a wealth of experience and this will only be my third ever rally,” said Rowlands, “The forests of Grizedale are notoriously difficult so it will be a huge benefit to me having Emyr guiding me.”

In his ALFA Wales backed Fiesta, Rowlands will be facing stiff competition as this second round of the DMack-supported series draws in more competitors from across the UK. “The championship will go from strength to strength over the year, the prizes are worthwhile and the competition is close whilst maintaining reasonable running costs with the cars.” Explained Rowlands, who spends his time working with Geoff Jones Motorsport building and preparing rally cars during the week.

“I am really pleased with how well the Cambrian Rally went last month, we started having issues with the gearbox towards the end of the event but we had built enough of a lead to maintain the victory.” Rowlands continued “I’m still very new to this, and I must thank John Pritchard of Copart for allowing me to use his car for these events.”

Rowlands and Hall are also supported by Penrhos Arms, Jordan Road Surfacing, Gwyndaf Evans Motors and Ex-Pressed Steel Panels.
